5-Free nail polish
5-Free refers to nail polish that doesn't contain toluene, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, dibutyl phthalate and camphor. These chemicals are sketchy at best and should be avoided if at all possible because of the possibility for health hazard or allergy. All the nail polish I buy are 5-Free formulas. The two I like best and use currently on my own nails are Zoya for the base painting, and PUEEN for stamping on the designs. Zoya has a large array of gorgeous colors and PUEEN is currently one of the lowest priced, high quality stamping polishes available on the market. Products range from 3-Free, 4-Free, 5-Free, 6-Free, 7-Free, 8-Free and possibly more formulas. Formulas are always changing and there are more polishes out there than I can list.
Below is a list of 3-Free, 4-Free, 5-Free, 6-Free, 7-Free and 8-Free nail polishes you can keep an eye out for and try for yourself. Be sure to investigate the polish you're interested in as the information may have changed. Some research conducted found that certain brands contained dangerous chemicals despite stating they didn't. You can read the full 2012 Bloomberg article about this incident to learn more. Feel free to contact me if you know of any to add to the list or if you found one is listed in error. |
